For whom is this certificate program designed?

 

The certificate program is designed for anyone who attends the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication (SIIC) and applies intercultural skills and knowledge professionally in business, education, consulting, training, social services, health care, international programs and services, human resource development, or anywhere issues of cultural difference are present. Professionals and aspiring professionals in related fields will benefit from participating in the certificate program.

 

 

When do I apply for a certificate?

 

You apply after completing all the required learning activities.

 

 

Do the SIIC workshops I have taken in the past qualify?

 

Yes, you can use any SIIC workshops you have taken. You may also use courses taken through the MAIR program.

 

 

Do workshops, seminars, or classes I take through other organizations qualify?

 

To qualify, your learning needs to be offered by an organization when it was affiliated with ICI. Affiliated learning activities have come from the Kozai Group, Cultural Detective, and Personal Leadership Seminars among others. ICI-sponsored training offered in Japan, Austria, and Switzerland may also be used. It is important to keep records of what you have taken in the past, so you can document workshops and seminars you have attended. Contact ICI to determine which previous training might apply to your certificate.

 

 

What is Winter Institute for Intercultural Communication (WIIC)?

 

Starting in 2013, ICI joined with Wake Forest University to offer the Winter Institute for Intercultural Communication (WIIC). It is a winter/spring version of SIIC that is held in the southeast part of the U.S. All WIIC workshops will apply to the Certificate Program.
