COACHING FOR INTERCULTURAL DEVELOPMENT

As you consider how to increase your clients’ intercultural competence that, coaching based on the IDI provides a powerful tool for intervention. But what are the proven and effective strategies for approaching this sometimes-challenging task? This intensive, hands-on program will help you design and conduct effective intercultural coaching using the IDI profile. You will learn specific coaching strategies and techniques for guiding intercultural development, while actively engaging with other participants in sharpening your coaching skills through realistic role-play scenarios and case studies.

March 2-3, 2008 (Portland, Oregon)
T. Glen Sebera, Akiko Maeker, and/or Mitchell Hammer

June 26-27, 2008 (Minneapolis, Minnesota)

DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING INTERVENTIONS

While effective training design is essential for successful programs, theoretically grounded strategies are rare. What are the best practices for designing training to increase the intercultural competence of a group, based on their IDI profile? You will have the opportunity to examine the state of the art in training interventions, using IDI results to sequence your activities based on the learners’ developmental readiness. In particular, you will join other participants in examining specific guidelines for creating intentional training interventions that minimize resistance and promote development.

May 18-19, 2008 (Portland, Oregon)
Michael Paige, Janet Bennett and/or Mitchell Hammer

December 14-15, 2008 (Portland, Oregon)

IDI ASSESSMENT AND PROGRAM EVALUATION

With the current emphasis on proving results and demonstrating outcomes, the demand for professional assessment in a wide range of organizations has intensified. How can the IDI provide a baseline assessment of intercultural competence that can also allow you to evaluate your programs? During this workshop, you will learn strategies for insuring buy-in from decision makers and stakeholders, for identifying goals and outcomes, and for disseminating results.  You will join others in exploring ways of using the IDI to gather valid quantitative and qualitative data, prepare IDI templates, and ultimately, create a process to address the IDI results.
