Level 3: Intercultural Professional Certificate

  

 

This certificate represents a high level of achievement as an interculturalist whether in domestic or international arenas. As an applicant, you will complete an extensive curriculum of courses and workshops; articulate—in a public forum—the concepts, concerns, and issues core to the practice of intercultural communication; reflect on the significance of past development as an interculturalist; and demonstrate plans for continued professional development. 

 

 

Requirements: You will need to complete the following learning activities:

 

  • Obtain the Intercultural Practitioner Certificate

 

  • Attend an additional 10 days of related training at SIIC or through other ICI-sponsored learning activities. 
     
  • Have a minimum of five years of work experience in an interculturally related position.

 

 

Application: After you complete all required learning activities, submit:

 

  1. An Intercultural Professional Certificate application form

 

  2.  You will then work with ICI staff to:  

 

  • Develop a statement describing where you are today as a professional interculturalist and how you see yourself growing and developing as an interculturalist in the future. Please address the following questions:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

  3.  Complete the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES) and receive feedback from an assessment expert.
 

  4.  Provide evidence of your professional intercultural competence through activities such as:
 

  • Publishing a paper, 
  • Presenting at a conference, 
  • Making a video of your teaching, training, or coaching session, 
  • Reporting on your professional use of an intercultural assessment instrument.
  • For each activity you use, describe what you did, provide evidence of completion, and explain what worked and what you would change. Share any feedback you received on your activity.
